Молодой человек заталкивает свой рюкзак на багажную полку, усаживается рядом и тут же принимается рассказывать о себе

Alex Anna

Alex: What about you Anna? Where did you travel in Italy?

Anna: Travel?!… I don’t travel much when I’m on holiday. I like relaxing on the beach with a good book or a cocktail…

Alex: But did you go anywhere from your hotel?

Anna: Of course I did! I went shopping!

Когда самолет взлетел и набрал высоту, выяснилось, что оба очень любят путешествовать, но делают это очень по-разному

Anna Alex

Anna: I can’t believe you like those cheap hostels! They are so uncomfortable and crowded! You don’t even have you own bathroom.

Alex: The accommodation is usually basic that’s true. But you have a chance to get in touch with real people: locals and other travellers. You can learn from their culture and share experience with each other.

Anna: Sharing experience is OK. But I would never share a bedroom with strangers!

In the end Alex and Anna got so emotional, that they neary argued!

Luckily, Alex managed to change the topic just in time

Alex Anna

Alex:Alright, alright, alright! Let’s stop arguing! Better tell me, what was the most extreme case in your travelling experience?

Anna: Well, it must have been my journey to Tokyo three years ago.

Alex: Mmm! Interesting!

Anna: Not at all, actually! It was during the flight, when our plane suddenly hit some nasty turbulence.

Alex: That’s rough!

Anna: The worst part, there was no advance warning and some passengers were out of their seats because they weren’t wearing seatbelts!

Alex: I guess, I’d better buckle up now!

Давайте узнаем, почему наши новые знакомые любят путешествовать

Alex Anna

Alex: Anna, what’s the best thing about travelling?

Anna: The best thing about travelling is relaxation. I work very hard and when I get very tired I really need good rest in a quiet place. That is why I travel and when I go to a new place I can forget about everything and just relax. I never work when I’m on holiday. I like visiting museums and historical places too. That is why my favourite city is Rome.

Anna Alex

Anna: Alex, what’s the best thing about travelling?

Alex: Well, I don’t like when my life is boring. And when you travel every day is different. And every day I decide what I want to do. One day I can visit a big music festival and the very next day I can enjoy fishing in a forest with a man from a local village. Right now I’m flying to Helsinki. I want to visit some beautiful places and Santa Claus village in Rovaniemi. I have ten days so I might stay in the city or I might fly to Tampere or go to Espoo. I don’t have plans yet.

Let’s go and ask our new friends why they like travelling

Alex Anna

Alex: Anna, what’s the best thing about travelling?

Anna:The best and the most important thing about travelling is relaxation. Sometimes your life becomes such a routine that you simply forget to look around and enjoy the simple things. You can feel nervous or even depressed. That is why I need a change at times when I can just forget about everything. And the best place for that is a good comfortable hotel in a great location! When I see the ocean or mountains behind the window of my room I recover almost immediately! I find it very useful to visit museums and historical sights too. It helps me put things in perspective and realize how big our world is and how unimportant our everyday problems can be.

Anna Alex

Anna: Alex, what’s the best thing about travelling?

Alex: Well, I I don’t like when my life is boring. New places, new people, new experience — that’s what always drives me. And when you travel every day is different. I never plan in advance, or make strict rules so I can do what I want, whenever I want it. One day I might be in the centre of a music festival together with thousands of people dancing and having fun and the very next day I enjoy the silence of a forest, fishing with a local farmer. Right now I’m flying to Helsinki and hope to see its gorgeous places and visit Santa Claus village in Rovaniemi. But I’m not sure if in three days time I’ll still be there or end up catching a plane to Tampere or might go by train to Espoo.

Why don’t we go and ask our new friends why they are so passionate about travelling?

Alex Anna

Alex: Anna, what’s the best thing about travelling?

Anna: The best and the most important thing about travelling is reaching the balance with the world. At times you get so caught up in daily routines that you simply forget to look around and enjoy the simple things. You grow tense, hesitant, and even depressed. And for me it’s crucial to change the scene at times and just forget about everything but myself. And what can be better for that than a good comfortable hotel with a great scenery around! Majestic views of the ocean or mountains make my soul recover almost instantly! I find it very delightful to visit museums or historical sights too. It helps me put things in perspective and realize how huge our world is and how insignificant our everyday problems can seem in comparison with it.

Anna Alex

Anna: Alex, what’s the best thing about travelling?

Alex: Well, I like being always on the move, you know. New places, new people, new challenges — that’s what always drives me. And when you travel no day is like another. I never bother myself with planning routes, or setting rules so I’m never tied to my itinerary and can do what I want, whenever I want it. One day I might be in the centre of a music festival surrounded by thousands of people breathing the vibrant atmosphere of the site and the very next day I indulge myself into the silence of a forest, fishing in a creek with a local. Right now I’m flying to Helsinki with it’s gorgeous places and incredibly rich culture. But I’m not sure if in three days time I’ll still be exploring the treasures of its museums or end up catching a plane to Tampere or Espoo.

Самолет Анны и Алекса вот-вот приземлится. Кажется, им удалось найти общий язык. А чье мнение показалось ближе вам?

I think Alex/Anna is right when he/she says that…

1. How do you usually travel?

2. Where do you prefer to stay?

3. Tell me about your last journey.
